Storybook Firsts ("we," "us," "our") operates storybookfirsts.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our service to create custom board books.

Information you provide:

• Email address — required to deliver your project link, proofs, and order updates.
• Phone number — optional, provided only if you opt in to SMS order updates.
• Photos — the 16 images you upload for your board book.
• Payment information — collected and processed entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.

Information collected automatically:

• Basic analytics and server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) to maintain and improve the service.

Your uploaded photos are used exclusively to produce your board book. Here is how the process works:

• Photos are stored on Vercel Blob with unique, unguessable URLs.
• Photos are sent to fal.ai for AI-powered watercolor transformation.
• Photos (or descriptions derived from them) are sent to Anthropic Claude to generate your book's story.
• Transformed images and story text are used to produce your print-ready book.
• After your book has been printed and shipped, original uploaded photos are retained for 90 days in case you need a reprint, then permanently deleted.

We do not sell, license, or use your photos for any purpose other than fulfilling your order.

If you provide your phone number and check the SMS opt-in box at checkout, you consent to receive transactional text messages about your order, including:

• Order confirmation
• Proof ready for review
• Shipping and delivery updates

Message frequency: Typically 3–5 messages per order.
Msg & data rates may apply.
Opt out: Reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe. Reply HELP for assistance.

We use the following third-party services to operate Storybook Firsts. Each processes data only as needed to provide their service:

• Stripe — payment processing (Privacy Policy)
• Twilio — SMS delivery (Privacy Policy)
• Vercel — hosting and file storage (Privacy Policy)
• fal.ai — AI image transformation
• Anthropic — AI story generation

• Email and order data: Retained for as long as needed for customer support and legal obligations (typically 2 years after order fulfillment).
• Phone number: Retained only while SMS consent is active. Deleted promptly if you opt out.
• Uploaded photos: Deleted 90 days after your book ships.
• Transformed images and story text: Retained for up to 90 days after shipping for reprint purposes, then deleted.

Storybook Firsts is a service for parents, guardians, and gift-givers. While the photos used in our books may depict children, only adults may place orders and upload photos. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please contact us immediately so we can delete it.

We use only essential cookies required for the site to function (e.g., session management). We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing us. If you are located in the EU/EEA, UK, or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR or CCPA — contact us and we will assist you.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
